Q: How do I join?

A: The prefered method is registering through the Foodservice.com home page, since you'll gain access to ALL of the services within the site. However, you can also join by clicking the "join" button above.


Q: How do I post a topic?

A: It's easy...once you join, you'll have a nickname and a password. Go directly to the forum of your choice and select "new topic".

Q.  What is "Chat"?

A. Chat is real-time, and is a quick way to post messages back and forth to anyone who might be online at the time.  If you'd like your question to be seen, be sure to post it in the forums by clicking "New Topic".

Q. I'm already logged in.  Why am I being asked for a password when I click the Chat button?

A.  The Chat service is currently limited to those who registered directly in the forums.  We're working on expanding this so that all members can use it.  


Q: How do I change my icon?

A: You can change your icon through the "profile" button above.


Q: How do I upload my own icon or picture?

A: This is also done through the "profile" button above.


Q. How do I change my nickname?

A. The system doesn't allow the nickname to be changed once it's established.  However, we do make exceptions for regular contributors.   We will update the nickname directly for anyone with 50 or more postings.

Q. HELP!  I can't log in. 

A. 99.9% of the time, this is caused by a User ID / password being entered through the wrong screen.   The forums software you see here was created by another company and merged somewhat within Foodservice.com.   Because of this, it's important to remember where you registered with Foodservice.com.

Discussion Forums Registration -  If you registered by clicking "Join" in the Discussion Forums, then you'll need to log in directly in the forums every time you want to contribute.   Your User ID and password will not work anywhere else within Foodservice.com.

Foodservice.com Site Wide Registration. - If you registered by clicking the registration link anywhere else within Foodservice.com, your User ID will consist of your name and a random group of numbers (example: David105434).   If your User ID looks like this, then you'll need to log-in through any page other than the Discussion Forums.   Once logged in, you'll be able to post messages within the Discussion Forums without having to log in again.

Q: How can I be alerted if someone answers a message that I post?

A: When you are posting a message, you'll see a checkbox that allows you to be alerted via email.


Q: How can I be alerted each time a message is posted within a forum?

A: You can choose this option through your "customize" button above.


Q: My "Private Message" icon is blinking, but I can't access my private messages.  Help!

A:  This is a known issue that we're working on.  Until then, be sure you're logging in directly through the Discussion Forums (not anywhere else on the site) using your Nickname and password.  (example:  Nickname:  john64392  Password: fscm_rocks!)
